"Who said that," Slappy asked looking around puzzled. A tiny fairy appears. She looks at the group for a moment. "Uh, nevermind," she says and flutters away.
"No, wait! Come back! We'll...," Slappy encourages, but the fairy does not return.

Another hill giant passes by. It may or may not be the same giant the group saw earlier. The ground shakes under his thunderous foot steps. The group has enough warning to get off the road and take cover in the brush. As the giant passes he drops something. Roll 1d6:

The body is Derrk, a level 5 orc reaver boss who carried a long whip on his belt (which is lost). The giant does not notice Slappy as he takes the orc's purse containing 15 gold and a ring.
"This is it! We have the ring," Slappy says as he holds up the final ring triumphantly.

The group hurries back once they are sure that the giant is a safe distance away and find Davanzu where they left him. They escort the nobel back to town and give him the 3 rings. Davanzu thanks the party and pays them 360 gold pieces for their service.
Slappy gives the serpent head to the authorities who pay 30 gp for it.
Laraute sells her gems for 42 gp and 60 for the feathers. She gives her extra +1 sword to Dru who goes to the weaponsmith and trades it for a mace +1 to replace her lost weapon.
The party has 3 rolls for level 6 which will be made later.

What happens now? With all the characters at level 5, it is time to upgrade to the “Four Against the Abyss” rules. This book updates the game from D6 to D8 and addresses characters of level 6-9. I will need time to learn these new rules. In the meantime, Epic Week is around the corner and I have several personal things coming up over the next 2 months. My plan is to pick this game back up later this summer and use vintage D&D adventures using the original basic system from the 1970s. To be continued…
