Rules

  • The Starlit Taphouse – House Rules
Pull up a chair, traveler, and warm yourself by the fire, but before your quill meets parchment, take a moment to read through the rules that keep this space safe, inspiring, and alive with creative magic. These aren’t meant to stifle you, just to keep the tavern standing:

    1. Respect the Realm and All Within It
Treat all members with kindness, empathy, and consideration. Discrimination, harassment, bullying, or hateful behavior of any kind (including racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, or ableism) will not be tolerated. This is a space for everyone.

    2. Consent is Sacred
Whether writing romance, combat, or NSFW content , all involved parties must give clear, enthusiastic consent. Communicate openly with your writing partners. If someone says “stop,” you stop. No questions.

    3. Mark NSFW & Mature Content Appropriately
We allow NSFW, dark themes, and emotionally intense stories, but they must be clearly labeled and placed in designated areas. This includes sexual content, graphic violence, trauma, and anything that may require a content warning. Respect boundaries and trigger tags.

    4. No Godmodding, Metagaming, or Powerplaying
You control your characters , and no one else's. Don’t make assumptions about another player’s character, actions, or thoughts without permission. Let scenes evolve collaboratively, not through domination.

    5. Keep IC and OOC Separate
Your character’s rivalries, romances, or vendettas should never bleed into personal relationships. Respect the line between fiction and reality. If problems arise, handle them privately and maturely, or reach out to moderators.

    6. Support Slow Burns and Deep Worldbuilding
We encourage immersive, character-driven storytelling. Be patient. Take the time to explore nuance, mood, and emotional stakes. This is a space for writers who love to live in their stories, not just race to the end.

    7. Be Active, Be Present (But Life Comes First)
We know the real world can pull you away, that’s okay. Just communicate if you’re going to be gone for a while, especially during collaborative scenes. Respect others’ time and pacing preferences.

    8. Open Genre, Open Door
While we specialize in steampunk, sci-fi, and medieval fantasy, we welcome all flavors of speculative fiction and beyond. You want to write cosmic horror in a haunted space chapel? Go for it. Urban fae drama? Yes. A romance between a mech pilot and a god? Let’s see it.

    9. Keep It Original
No plagiarism. No copyright characters from outside sources unless specifically permitted (i.e., fandom AUs with consent). Use your own worlds, or build new ones together, that’s half the fun. Exceptions are made for fandoms or if you want to roleplay in existing universes (Examples: Star Wars, Lord of The Rings, Naruto,....)

    10. Taphouse Moderators are Here to Help
Mods are storytellers too, and we’re here to keep things flowing smoothly. If you’re ever unsure, uncomfortable, or need support, don’t hesitate to reach out. We handle concerns with discretion and care.
